‘Plac mljac‘ i ‘Green River Festival‘ ovog se tjedna održavaju u Zagrebu

This week, two major cultural events, “Plac Mljac” and “Green River Festival”, will take place in Zagreb, offering residents and visitors a vibrant summer experience. From July 20th to 26th, the “Plac Mljac” festival will be held at the Trešnjevačka market, while the “Green River Festival” will run throughout the summer, from July 20th to September 27th, on the Savski nasip near the Hendrix Bridge. Both events promise a mix of music, art, food, and community engagement, with each day bringing new activities and performances. “Plac Mljac” operates under the slogan “Budi FACA, dođi do PLACA MLJACA!” and is described by organizers as one of the beloved local festivals. The event will run daily from 7 PM to midnight until July 26th, transforming the Trešnjevačka market into a lively space filled with live music, socializing, and culinary delights. Attendees can expect a dynamic atmosphere where the city’s rhythm comes alive through performances and interactions. Meanwhile, the “Green River Festival,” organized by the association “Priroda za sve,” has been running for five years and continues to bring together music, art, film, literature, creativity, and sustainability. Each day from 6 PM onwards, the Savski nasip becomes a hub of activity, featuring concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, creative workshops, and gastronomic innovations. The festival’s eco-friendly approach is highlighted by its large lopochi (traditional wooden structures), sculptures made from straw, and solar installations, all crafted from recycled and reused materials. The festival this year introduces a new gastro concept inspired by rivers and the Mediterranean, adding another layer of cultural richness to the already diverse programming. On Monday, the “Kino na Savi” screening brings Croatian short films and family classics to life, while Tuesday features literary-musical evenings. Wednesday offers creative and ceramic workshops alongside the “Mala ljetna knjižnica,” which provides books at special festival prices. Thursday highlights young domestic bands and a cycle dedicated to musical legends, while Friday reserves the festival stage for concerts and dance nights. Weekend activities include the “Vikend Afrike” on July 24th and 25th, featuring workshops on African rhythms, djembé drums, and concerts by artists such as Commi Balde Kouyate and Kaira Kele, delivering authentic sounds from West Africa. Saturday and Sunday see the “Večernji Art Bazar” on the beach, a meeting point for artists, craftsmen, and lovers of unique products. The bazaar invites illustrators, painters, photographers, designers, ceramicists, jewelry makers, and other creatives to showcase their work. Participation is free, and anyone interested can sign up. Throughout the festival, visitors can explore the exhibition “Balkan Love” by Aleksandar Crnogorc, which presents stories of couples of different ages, faiths, nationalities, and life experiences, demonstrating that love transcends prejudice.
