Over 790 residents have been evacuated in Quezon City due to ongoing monsoon rains. As of 3 p.m. Monday, the city government reported that 791 people from 263 families had been moved to 16 designated shelters spread across 15 barangays. In District 4, the number of evacuees was distributed across multiple locations, including the Barangay Covered Court in South Triangle, which saw 23 families and 67 individuals. The Roxas Gymnasium in Roxas hosted 12 families and 33 individuals, while additional sites such as the Scalabrini Korean Martyrs, Mt. Carmel Shrine in Damayang Lagi and the Barangay Covered Court, Peoples Park and Light House Baptist Church in Tatalon received smaller groups. The Rillo Hall in Kristong Hari and the 2nd Floor, Barangay Hall in Kalusugan further added to the distribution, housing 6 families and 23 individuals respectively. Meanwhile, the BDRRMO Building Zone A and Function Hall Zone B in Dona Imelda welcomed 18 families and 77 individuals, and the Barangay Hall in Botocan concluded the list with another 6 families and 23 individuals. District 6, though less densely populated, still saw its share of evacuations, with the Casanova Multipurpose Hall in Culiat accommodating 27 families and 105 individuals. These figures highlight the widespread impact of the monsoon rains across different parts of the city, necessitating a coordinated effort to ensure the safety of all residents. Meanwhile, in Zambales, the persistent rains have led to the damage of five flood control structures managed by the Department of Public Works and Highways. This includes the San Juan Dike in Botolan, Tanguay Slope Protection in Sto. Niño, Cabangan, and the Sto. Tomas River Slope Protection on the San Narciso side. Additional reports indicated damage in Sta. Fe, San Marcelino, and Maloma, San Felipe. The destruction of these critical infrastructure elements has exacerbated flooding conditions, forcing over 2,600 residents to evacuate their homes. As of Thursday, 200 families remain in evacuation centers in Zambales, according to Rolex Estella, head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office. The local authorities await an official report from the DPWH detailing the extent of the damage and associated costs. The National Weather Service has predicted continued rainfall in the region, with 50 to 100 millimeters of precipitation expected in Zambales.
