On Thursday, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced the price cuts via a post on the social media platform X. He highlighted the new pricing structure for the GPT-5.6 Luna model, which brings API costs down to $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens. Alongside the Luna model, OpenAI also lowered prices for its mid-tier GPT-5.6 Terra model by 20 percent. The updated rate for Terra stands at $2 per million input tokens and $12 per million output tokens. Additionally, the company introduced a “fast mode” for its flagship GPT-5.6 Sol model, promising improved performance speeds up to 2.5 times faster than previous versions.
