Novi Air Force One drži Boeinga duboko u zoni gubitaka.

Troškovi povezani s novim zrakoplovom Air Force One nastavljaju rasti, gurajući Boeing dalje u crveno. U drugom tromjesečju, Boeing je zabilježio gubitke od 280 milijuna dolara u vezi s projektom, koji je premašio proračun za više od milijardu dolara i četiri godine iza rasporeda.

The new Air Force One has pushed Boeing into deep losses, according to recent financial reports. The costs associated with the latest presidential jet have continued to rise, significantly impacting the US aircraft manufacturer. In the second quarter, Boeing recorded another loss of $280 million related to the project. This follows a four-year delay and over a billion-dollar budget overrun since the order was placed in 2018 for two Boeing 747-8s at a fixed price of $3.9 billion. The government’s changing requirements during former President Donald Trump's first term contributed to these delays. As of now, the planes are scheduled for delivery in 2028. In the interim, Trump used a 747-8 loaned to him by Qatar. These ongoing issues with the Air Force One program have affected Boeing’s overall performance, leading to deeper losses than anticipated. Despite these setbacks, Boeing managed to improve its net loss compared to the previous year, reducing it by approximately 30 percent to $428 million. The company’s earnings per share fell below expectations, with a loss of 76 cents per share, more than double the average analyst forecast. However, increased deliveries of passenger and cargo aircraft helped boost revenue by eight percent to $24.6 billion. Boeing also saw a positive cash flow increase, recording a free cash flow of $631 million in the second quarter, up from a negative $200 million a year earlier. For the full year, the company aims to achieve a free cash flow between one and three billion dollars, marking the first time this figure would be positive since 2023. The firm is currently ramping up production of its best-selling 737 MAX model, targeting 47 deliveries per month. The Air Force One project has been a long-standing challenge for Boeing, with initial orders dating back to 2018. The program has faced numerous delays and cost overruns, reflecting broader challenges within the aerospace industry. While the government has sought modifications to the aircraft, these changes have added complexity and expense to the project. Industry analysts suggest that while the Air Force One program continues to weigh heavily on Boeing’s finances, the company’s ability to deliver commercial aircraft remains a key factor in its recovery. The improved cash flow and increased production rates indicate that Boeing is making strides toward stabilizing its financial position. However, the long-term impact of the Air Force One delays remains uncertain, particularly as the program moves closer to completion. With the current schedule projecting delivery of the new Air Force One jets in 2028, the program will likely continue to influence Boeing’s financial outlook in the coming years. The company’s focus on commercial aircraft production suggests a strategic shift aimed at offsetting the costs associated with the presidential fleet. As Boeing works to meet its production targets, the outcome of the Air Force One project will remain a critical point of observation for investors and industry observers alike.
