Nearly 300 sea turtle hatchlings released in Catanduanes, Sarangani

A conservation effort resulted in the release of 299 sea turtle hatchlings in Catanduanes and Sarangani, Philippines. On June 16, 210 green sea turtle hatchlings were released in Virac, Catanduanes, marking World Sea Turtle Day. Additional releases included 108 hatchlings at Tampad Beach and 102 at Bosdak Beach. On July 1, 89 Olive Ridley sea turtle hatchlings were released in Sarangani Bay Protected Seascape. The event was organized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), with volunteer reports enabling the safe release. Conservationists emphasized the importance of protecting these species due to threats like habitat loss and climate change. Both species are protected under Philippine law.
