The nutricionist Diego Sívori revealed during his appearance on LN+ studios that the dry, edible seed which supports and strengthens muscle mass is rice. In addition, he debunked three major food myths of summer and identified the alcoholic beverage that causes the most hangover. Sívori explained that many believe digesting a carbohydrate-rich food like rice is difficult, but in reality, it is among the easiest foods to digest. He emphasized that white rice is preferable for achieving these results, noting that both rice and pasta can become problematic when paired with other ingredients such as cheese, sauces, and processed meats. He further clarified that eating hot does not equate to consuming high-calorie foods, nor does eating cold mean consuming low-calorie items. As an example, he pointed out that ice cream, while consumed cold, quickly translates into calories. The body cannot fully utilize all the calories from such foods, approximately 70 percent are converted into heat, while the remaining 30 percent provide energy. Therefore, claiming that eating ice cream refreshes the body is a myth. In addition to ice cream, Sívori identified two more common summer indulgences that contribute to heat buildup. These include beer and fried potatoes. He noted that these three items, ice cream, beer, and fried potatoes, are frequently consumed during the summer months and each contributes to increased body temperature. Regarding fried potatoes, Sívori described them as the most addictive food globally due to their combination of carbohydrates, fats, and crunchiness. This combination activates pleasure centers in the brain, making them highly appealing. He added that people tend to consume entire packages of potato chips, unlike broccoli, which is less likely to be eaten in such quantities. When asked about alcoholic beverages that cause the most hangovers, Sívori highlighted those with colored hues, particularly during the summer season. He explained that the presence of color in drinks correlates with higher levels of hangover-inducing compounds. He also discussed how excessive alcohol consumption leads to a surplus of calories, which the body stores as fat, especially around the abdominal area. During the summer, the consumption of beer increases significantly. Sívori noted that a glass of beer or a glass of wine has a similar calorie count, though beer tends to cause greater bloating. Beyond alcoholic beverages, Sívori addressed the role of seasonal fruits in summer diets. He mentioned watermelon and cantaloupe as popular choices due to their high water content. He clarified that the sugar level in a slice of cantaloupe is comparable to just one candy, emphasizing that these fruits offer satiety, hydration, and fiber. As a healthy alternative, Sívori suggested freezing grapes for a refreshing and nutritious snack. By placing grapes in the freezer for several hours, they transform into a convenient and healthful treat.
