A sudden police operation in Heinzelova led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man who was found carrying nearly 40 kilograms of marijuana, concealed in suitcases and bags inside his car. The incident occurred on Thursday around noon in Vjekoslava Heinzela Street, when officers from the Mobile Unit of the Traffic Police stopped the man’s BMW. During the inspection, they detected the smell of marijuana, prompting them to request a search warrant. Inside the vehicle, they discovered 43 packages containing a total of 39,565 grams of the drug, along with cash suspected to have originated from drug sales. The suspect, identified as a 26-year-old male, has been detained in custody pending further investigation. Forensic examination confirmed that he had acquired the marijuana for resale on the illegal market. Authorities have filed a criminal complaint against him under charges related to unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs. The case will proceed before the County Court in Zagreb. According to reports, the police were alerted to the presence of marijuana due to its distinct odor emanating from the vehicle. Officers initially approached the car for a routine traffic stop but quickly recognized the unusual scent.
