Morris described the chaos and fear as the campsite was evacuated, with families making difficult decisions on whether to leave on foot or by car. The journey to safety was prolonged, with visibility impaired by smoke and ash falling like snow. Upon reaching a temporary shelter, she noted the support from local residents, who offered essential supplies such as food, drinks, and fire blankets.
