One three-month study found no improvement in memory, although participants reported feeling happier and having a better quality of life. Another trial noted improvements in brain imaging and cognitive abilities, but participants also lost weight, making it unclear whether the changes were due to the diet itself or other factors. Despite these limitations, scientific consensus continues to point toward the value of a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fish, legumes, and olive oil for brain health. Experts stress, however, that the MIND diet should not be viewed as a standalone solution. Lifestyle factors such as quitting smoking, regular physical activity, controlling blood pressure and blood sugar, and maintaining social engagement are equally vital to supporting cognitive wellness. While the MIND diet offers promising insights into how nutrition might influence brain aging, it remains just one piece of a broader puzzle.
