Hawaii Democratic House candidate Kirill Basin faced felony terroristic threatening charges following a chaotic beach altercation captured on video, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by Fox News Digital. The incident occurred at Keawakapu Beach on Maui, days before Basin’s initial court appearance on two felony counts related to threats against multiple individuals. The footage shows Basin engaging in a heated argument with a group of beachgoers, escalating into a physical confrontation that culminated in Basin being knocked unconscious. The video begins with Basin addressing a group of beachgoers, instructing one man to “Put your bag away, bro. Put your bag away.” As music by the Pixies plays from a nearby speaker, Basin continues to interact with the group, stating, “I told him if he wants to go to the hospital, come here.” The situation appears to momentarily de-escalate when Basin says, “It is over,” before shaking another person’s hand. However, this brief calm does not last long. Basin then turns toward another individual, shouts an obscenity, and resumes his argument with the group. When a man tells Basin he is speaking to his girlfriend, Basin replies, “I don’t care.” The exchange rapidly intensifies, with Basin repeatedly asking, “What are you going to do?” before issuing a challenge to another man. After a woman calls him “a child,” Basin demands to know what she has said and threatens to “put [her] in the ground” and “in the hospital” before walking away while using a derogatory term. Moments later, Basin returns to his belongings, where Kama Homan, a larger man later identified as having mixed martial arts training, approaches from behind. Basin shoves Homan, prompting the two to begin a scuffle. Basin stumbles backward over two beach chairs and falls to the sand. After regaining his footing, he grabs one of the chairs and swings it at Homan, who pushes the chair aside before delivering a punch that knocks Basin unconscious. Homan walks over and repeatedly tells Basin to “wake up.” Once Basin regains consciousness, he tells someone he is “going to jail” before walking away. Moments later, he charges toward Homan again while shouting obscenities. Homan explained to Hawaii News Now that he decided to intervene after observing Basin’s increasing aggression. “I’m like, maybe I should intervene,” Homan said. “As I got closer and closer, he was just getting more irate and violent.” Homan stated that Basin shoved him before responding. “He put his hands on me and as soon as he tried to shove me, I hit him with a left and a right,” Homan said. “That’s when he stumbled and fell over the chairs.” According to the criminal complaint, Basin allegedly threatened multiple individuals during the confrontation, including Homan. A second felony count specifically alleges that Basin threatened Homan with a knife. Homan claimed he recovered what he described as a 5-inch switchblade and turned it over to Maui police. Fox News Digital attempted to reach Basin and his attorney, Brandon Segal, for comment but did not receive a response. During Tuesday’s initial court appearance, a judge maintained Basin’s $1 million bail and ordered him to avoid contact with Homan and four other individuals.
