This group of four MLAs was part of a larger contingent of 25 legislators who cast votes opposing the party whip during a crucial vote of confidence held on May 13, which supported the leadership of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.

The vote of confidence resulted in the ruling party securing 144 "ayes" out of 234 total members, significantly surpassing the required simple majority of 118. This outcome allowed the government to remain in power despite the internal dissent within the AIADMK.
