The Argentine government has officially opened bids for the economic proposals related to the third phase of the National Road Concessions Network, known as the Red Federal de Concesiones. This initiative involves more than 3,900 kilometers of road corridors spanning 11 provinces, aimed at facilitating transportation for production, commerce, and regional tourism. The project will be operated under a fully private financing model, with no state subsidies. The announcement was made by Economy Minister Luis Caputo through a post on his X account, emphasizing the shift toward private investment, greater efficiency, and improved infrastructure for Argentinians. The process marks a continuation of the government’s broader strategy to privatize key segments of the national highway system. According to official documents, the third phase includes eight specific routes distributed across Córdoba, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Santiago del Estero, Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Chaco, Corrientes, Misiones, and Mendoza. These routes are considered strategically important for economic activity, connecting regions and supporting both local and interprovincial trade. The Ministry of Economy confirmed the move through Resolution 1024/2026, published in the Official Gazette, which outlines the terms of the bidding process. The selected routes include several major highways, each with distinct lengths and geographical significance. The Central Corridor spans 681 kilometers along National Routes 9, 19, and 34. The Mesopotamic Corridor covers 276 kilometers of Routes 12 and 18. In the northwestern region, the North-Central Corridor extends over 536 kilometers of Route 34, while the Northwest Corridor encompasses 596 kilometers of Routes 9, 34, 66, 1V66, and A-016. The Coastal Corridor includes 547 kilometers of Routes 12 and 16, and the Northeast Corridor covers 456 kilometers of Routes 12 and 105. The Chaco-Santa Fe Corridor runs for 497 kilometers along Route 11, and the Cuyo Corridor comprises 329 kilometers of Route 7, one of the main logistical arteries in western Argentina. A total of 22 companies were prequalified to submit bids for these eight sections, with 50 proposals received. Among the participants are well-known firms such as CPC, which submitted offers for all corridors, and joint ventures including José Chediack and Benito Roggio e Hijos, Panedile Argentina, and Cartellone. The opening of the financial envelopes will determine which companies are best positioned to manage the 3,900 kilometers of roads under a private funding model, with no direct state involvement in operations or maintenance. This new approach aims to reduce the state's role in managing infrastructure, shifting responsibility entirely to private operators who must cover the costs of construction, upkeep, and service delivery. The government claims this model will improve road conditions, speed up investments, and enhance overall efficiency in transport management. It also aligns with broader efforts to streamline public administration and promote private sector participation in critical sectors of the economy.
