Peking Tong Ren Tang pokreće novi zamah u nasljeđivanju TCM-a putem programa studenata ambasadora

Beijing Tong Ren Tang, one of China’s oldest and most respected traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) companies, has launched a new initiative aimed at engaging young people with the ancient healing practices of TCM through its “Student Ambassador Programme for Chinese Medicine and Health Care.” The program, which began its second year of operation in Hong Kong, features a newly released video highlighting the experiences of students who have participated in the program. The video, available on BTRT’s YouTube channel, offers a glimpse into how the younger generation is being introduced to TCM through interactive and educational opportunities. The program was developed as part of BTRT’s ongoing efforts to preserve and promote TCM culture while integrating modern technologies and innovative approaches. With over 350 years of heritage behind it, the company has positioned itself as both a guardian of tradition and a pioneer in adapting TCM to contemporary contexts. The initiative focuses on providing students with hands-on experiences that bridge academic knowledge with practical application. Participants have engaged in a variety of activities, including visiting BTRT’s Hong Kong production and research facilities, exploring the Tong Ren Tang Museum, and participating in workshops that demonstrate traditional pharmaceutical techniques. One of the highlights of the program is the integration of cutting-edge technology, particularly 5G and artificial intelligence, into the study and practice of TCM. Students were given the opportunity to explore how these technologies can enhance healthcare delivery and improve the efficiency of herbal cultivation. For example, during their visit to the China Mobile 5G Innovation Centre Hong Kong Open Lab, participants learned how connected devices and data analytics could support the growth and management of medicinal plants. This exposure helps students understand the evolving landscape of TCM and its potential for technological advancement. In addition to technical training, the program emphasizes the importance of community involvement and cultural exchange. Student ambassadors have taken on roles as health mentors for the elderly, teaching them about wellness practices such as Ba Duan Jin, a form of qigong, and offering guidance on acupoint-based care. These interactions foster a sense of responsibility among the students, encouraging them to apply their knowledge in meaningful ways that benefit society. The program has also expanded its offerings this year with the introduction of the “Campus Herbal Medicine Baizi Cabinet” initiative. This component allows students to engage directly with medicinal plants and learn about the relationship between TCM and nature. By studying the principles of seasonal wellness and balance, participants gain a deeper appreciation for the holistic approach that defines TCM. As the program enters its second year, BTRT has expressed confidence in its effectiveness and plans to continue refining its approach to youth engagement. The company views the initiative as a crucial element of its long-term strategy to ensure the sustainability of TCM traditions while making them relevant to future generations. With the support of local institutions and the enthusiasm of participants, the Student Ambassador Programme is shaping up to be a vital platform for fostering interest in TCM among young people.
