This trend is reflected in the latest surveys conducted by YouGov and Morgan, which show One Nation holding onto its position without substantial increases in popularity.

According to the YouGov poll, conducted between June 9 and 16, One Nation received 28% of the primary vote, slightly down from previous figures. Meanwhile, Labor maintained a steady 26%, the Coalition rose to 21%, the Greens stayed at 13%, and other parties held at 12%. In terms of preference flows, Labor led both One Nation and the Coalition by 52–48, indicating that while One Nation is still prominent, it does not hold the majority of voter preferences.

The Morgan poll, conducted from June 8 to 14, showed similar results with One Nation receiving 29.5% of the primary vote, remaining stable compared to earlier readings. However, Labor increased its support to 28%, while the Coalition decreased slightly to 17%. The Greens' support dipped to 14%, and other parties remained at 11.5%.

Regional variations highlight differing dynamics within the country. In Victoria, where the state election is scheduled for late November, a Resolve poll indicated that One Nation is gaining ground. The poll suggested that One Nation could potentially surpass Labor and the Coalition in certain areas, although the small sample size makes these findings somewhat volatile. Analysts suggest that while One Nation is making headway in specific regions, broader national trends remain more stable.

Political discourse around the current situation reflects growing dissatisfaction with the traditional two-party system. Senator Andrew Bragg, an opposition housing spokesman, expressed concerns that the existing political framework has not adequately addressed critical issues such as budget management, debt control, tax policies, superannuation, and industrial relations. He argued that the lack of robust policy debates among major parties has contributed to a decline in their respective vote shares and the simultaneous rise of alternative parties like One Nation.

Economic considerations also play a crucial role in shaping public sentiment. Treasurer Jim Chalmers mentioned ongoing discussions regarding the extension of a fuel excise cut, initially introduced due to rising oil prices following US-Israeli strikes on Iran. Although oil prices have since stabilized, the decision on whether to prolong the excise reduction remains pending. Chalmers emphasized the importance of monitoring global oil markets and managing inflation effectively.

Criticism directed towards One Nation intensified after Pauline Hanson's speech at the National Press Club. Chalmers labeled One Nation's appeal as a "big fraud," suggesting that the party exploits public concerns without offering viable solutions. He criticized One Nation for consistently opposing measures aimed at addressing economic challenges faced by workers and lower-income individuals, asserting that the party aligns more closely with the interests of influential figures like Gina Rinehart rather than the general populace.

Despite these criticisms, One Nation continues to attract attention with proposals such as transitioning the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) to a subscription-based model, which garnered mixed responses from survey participants. While a majority supported the idea of removing taxpayer funding for the ABC, relatively few were willing to personally contribute to its finances.

As the political scene evolves, the potential for strategic alliances between One Nation and the Coalition remains a topic of discussion. Some analysts speculate that forming a coalition might provide a pathway for either party to achieve greater influence. However, such moves would require careful consideration given the complex interplay of regional dynamics, public opinion shifts, and internal party politics.
