Abia State Labour Party chieftains in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, have formed three strategic committees aimed at bolstering the party's presence ahead of the 2027 general elections. The decision came following a strategic meeting held on Monday, during which the stakeholders expressed continued backing for Governor Alex Otti. The resolutions were outlined in a communiqué released after the meeting, which was chaired by Pastor Caleb Ajagba, the stakeholders’ chairman and Chief of Staff to the governor. The meeting focused on reinforcing unity within the Labour Party in Nsulu, with participants emphasizing that all members, regardless of when they joined the party, are entitled to equal treatment and opportunities. They called for mutual respect and inclusiveness, ensuring that everyone contributes meaningfully to the party’s progress. The communiqué, signed by Ajagba alongside Dr Chibuzo Emeruwa and Dr Enyichukwu Olumba, noted that the group plans to enhance grassroots outreach and awareness campaigns throughout Nsulu. This effort aims to highlight the accomplishments of the current administration and solidify voter support for the Labour Party in upcoming elections. Among the key points raised was appreciation for the governor’s leadership, particularly in executing major projects such as the Abia International Airport, the Umuomaiukwu Smart School, and several road improvements. The stakeholders also welcomed assurances that compensation for individuals impacted by the airport land acquisition had been approved by the state government. They expressed confidence that all qualifying beneficiaries would soon receive their rightful payments. Efforts to resolve the persistent electricity shortage in Nsulu, especially in the Umunna Nsulu area, were also acknowledged. The group remained hopeful that work on this issue would begin shortly. Additionally, they urged local residents to participate in government initiatives designed to empower citizens, including programs like TECHRISE, the Abia Leadership Academy, the Abia Smart School Initiative, and other youth-focused projects. To implement these resolutions, the stakeholders approved the creation of three specialized committees. The Empowerment Committee will focus on identifying and coordinating with individuals who qualify for government-led empowerment and capacity-building programs. The Voter Education and Sensitisation Committee will work to inform voters about the significance of continuous voter registration, permanent voter card collection, and civic involvement, while highlighting the achievements of the Labour Party administration. Lastly, the Mobilisation Committee will be responsible for strengthening party structures at the grassroots level, resolving internal conflicts, engaging stakeholders, and rallying support for all Labour Party candidates in the 2027 elections. The stakeholders also called for expedited progress on existing and planned infrastructure projects in Nsulu, particularly road developments and essential public works. Their appeal underscores a broader strategy to ensure that the region benefits fully from the state government’s developmental agenda. The formation of these committees reflects a concerted effort by the Labour Party to consolidate its base and prepare for future electoral challenges.
