A 26-year-old gym trainer in Delhi has been arrested after a violent confrontation with police in Rajouri Garden, marking the latest chapter in a troubling pattern of alleged crimes linked to him. Mohammad Imran, also known as Aqib, is the prime accused in the murder of 21-year-old Muskan, a Delhi University student and part-time model. Imran was shot during an exchange of fire with law enforcement officers on Thursday, a day after Muskan was allegedly found stabbed to death at her home in Tilak Nagar. According to police records, Imran has a documented history of criminal activity spanning nearly eight years. In 2018, he was booked under the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually harassing a minor in Tilak Nagar. The case included charges of voluntarily causing hurt, stalking, and outraging the modesty of a woman, all under the broader umbrella of common intention. This incident marked the beginning of a series of alleged offenses tied to Imran. In 2021, Imran was again implicated in a case involving assault and culpable homicide. The complainant alleged that Imran had attacked a man with a stone slab on the night of October 30, 2020. During the altercation, Imran reportedly struck the victim on the head and then hit him on the nose while he lay on the ground. The victim sustained severe head injuries and fell into a coma, requiring hospitalization for six days. The case was formally registered the following year upon the court’s directive. Fast forward to 2026, Imran’s alleged actions escalated once more. Police stated that Imran had known Muskan for approximately 18 months after they met at the gym where he worked as a trainer. On July 18, Muskan visited a police station to report harassment by Imran but did not file a formal complaint. Investigators noted that Imran had a history of substance abuse and was sent to a de-addiction center. However, he was released on July 30 after allegedly injuring himself there. On August 26, Imran allegedly arrived at Muskan’s residence while she was alone. An argument ensued, leading to Imran stabbing her multiple times with a knife before fleeing the scene. Police further indicated that Imran may have taken Muskan’s iPhone to attempt to erase digital evidence, including messages and chats. Following the murder, authorities launched a widespread search for Imran, deploying over 15 police teams to track his movements. Imran was eventually located near the sub-registrar’s office in Rajouri Garden on Thursday. Upon attempts to arrest him, Imran allegedly opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from police. Imran fired four shots, while officers returned seven, three of which struck him in the legs. He was subsequently hospitalized and arrested. Investigators are currently examining Imran’s prior criminal cases, his movements, and digital evidence as part of the ongoing murder investigation. The case highlights the need for continued vigilance and thorough legal scrutiny in addressing repeated instances of criminal behavior. As the probe continues, the focus remains on uncovering all relevant information to ensure justice for Muskan and hold those responsible accountable.
