A 16-year-old Croatian teenager has been arrested following a knife attack at a high school in Schongau, Bavaria, Germany, which left two 13-year-old girls seriously injured. The incident occurred on July 8, according to police reports, and the suspect was quickly detained after the assault. Authorities have since discovered a 19-page manifesto attributed to the accused, filled with extremist rhetoric, violent fantasies, and conspiracy theories targeting multiple social groups. The document, written in English, contains hate speech directed against women, Muslims, homosexuals, and other groups the author views as part of a society he rejects. It includes radical worldviews, misogyny, and anti-Semitism, according to investigators. The Munich public prosecutor’s office is examining whether the manifesto and its associated digital footprints played a role in motivating the attack. Officials are analyzing the content to determine how ideological radicalization might have influenced the criminal act. Police stated that the suspect used a knife during the attack and was also found to possess firearms. Investigators are looking into potential links between the individual and extremist online communities, particularly the incel subculture. According to Spiegel, there are indications the teenager intended to livestream the attack via the internet. The Bavarian Research and Information Center Against Antisemitism (RIAS) analyzed the text and described it as explicitly antisemitic. RIAS director Annette Seidel-Arpaci noted the document provides insight into the perpetrator's mindset, characterized by violent and destructive fantasies. Experts also highlighted the presence of numerous misogynistic messages within the manifesto, including descriptions of violence against women, sexualized fantasies involving torture, and open disdain for women. The term "incel," often linked to the subculture mentioned in the investigation, stands for "involuntary celibate." This refers to individuals who believe they are unable to find romantic or sexual partners due to their appearance or social status. The movement is frequently associated with misogyny, hatred toward women, and a sense of entitlement to female attention, which can lead to radicalization and violent behavior in extreme cases. Misogyny, as defined sociologically, represents deep-seated hostility, contempt, or prejudice against women. It is not limited to individual actions but reflects broader societal phenomena, such as the degradation of women, viewing them as less valuable beings, or treating them as property.
