The county race in Miklavz begins: Egon Repnik will run for a third term

The article discusses the upcoming municipal election in Miklavž na Dravskem polju, where current mayor Egon Repnik plans to run for a third term. Repnik mentions that his political party, 'Lista za občino Miklavž,' has decided to support him. Among his proposed projects is the construction of a health center covering general medicine, dental care, and physiotherapy, located at the 'Miklavški triangle' site. The project, valued at around 4 million euros, requires finalizing funding agreements with the ministry and is expected to start in February 2027. Other ongoing projects include cycling paths, pedestrian routes, sports park improvements, and green spaces. Repnik emphasizes the need for more localized consideration of community needs in future financial planning.

In the town of Miklavž on Dravska Poljana, the campaign for mayor has officially begun with Egon Repnik preparing to seek another term in office. Repnik confirmed during a recent meeting within his party, List za občino Miklavž, that he will run again for the position of mayor. “We had a meeting a few days ago, and they have decided to support my third candidacy,” he stated. Among the key projects Repnik aims to implement in the upcoming mandate is the construction of a health center. The location has been known for some time, with plans to establish a larger facility on the so-called Miklavški triangle, where large events are currently held. This new building would consolidate all healthcare services under one roof, including general medicine, dental care, and physiotherapy. “We already have the construction permit, and we need to finalize the exact funding arrangements with the ministry. We plan to announce the tender for the contractor in September, and if everything goes according to plan, we could start work in February,” Repnik explained regarding the project valued at around four million euros. Initially, the budget included provisions for a library, which was previously absent in the municipality. However, these funds were later redirected to expand the current ambulance facility. Other ongoing or planned projects include the construction of a cycling path and pedestrian walkway between the settlements of Dobrovče and Dravski Dvor. Additionally, workers are completing a major investment in the sports park in Dobrovče, where a new stand for spectators will soon open. In the future, there are plans for a multi-purpose hall adjacent to the elementary school in Dobrovče. “Currently, we have a larger hall only in Miklavž, which does not meet the needs of the community,” Repnik added. Among the projects set to begin shortly is the green park. On the site of the primary school, the municipality plans to create a park connected to the waste collection center, complete with necessary infrastructure. This space will also serve as a venue for larger public events. The value of this project is estimated at less than one million euros, with approximately 150,000 euros coming from co-financing. They have also received approval for funding the cleaning of the first fish pond and springs in the oldest part of Miklavž. In a second phase, they intend to organize walking paths along the ponds. Looking ahead, Repnik expressed a desire for more accessible cohesion funds and greater consideration of local community needs in financial planning. “Now, green themes and related infrastructure are in focus. We have secured this project, but what else can we green? Or perhaps another municipality where practically everything is already green?” he commented. To date, no other candidates for mayor in the municipality have emerged.
