Living and Working Among the Inuit

Two young graduates from Škofijska Klasična Gimnazija, Jaka Mojškerc and Timotej Cvirn, embarked on a mission trip to Nunavut, Canada, where they worked alongside Catholic missionary Sister Dorica Sever among the Inuit people. They spent a year living and working in the Arctic region, including during the harshest winter conditions with temperatures reaching -55°C. The pair were inspired by Sister Dorica’s work and took on responsibilities such as teaching religious education, leading Masses, and conducting rituals during major religious weeks. Their experience involved engaging with the Inuit community, learning about their traditional way of life, and understanding the challenges they face due to modernization pressures. They later shared their experiences at an event in Škofja Loka, organized in collaboration with local parish and cultural institutions.
