SloveniaThe Mladinski kulturni center Maribor has completed a two-year project called 'Zeleni korak za kulturo,' aimed at empowering cultural institutions to adopt sustainable practices. The final phase of the project involved developing a free online carbon footprint calculator available on the MKC Maribor website. Funded by the Ministry of Culture from the Climate Change Fund, the project was carried out in collaboration with partners Ecologi brez meja and ENERGAP. Key initiatives included waste separation, eco-friendly mobility plans, and guidelines for sustainable operations in cultural institutions. The carbon calculator, developed according to the GHG Protocol standards, was tested with 16 cultural organizations across Slovenia and is now publicly accessible. Five cultural institutions were measured for their carbon footprints as part of the project. A national conference on 'Culture and Sustainability' concluded the project in June, with the project ending in August.
