ZDF closes 'A case for two' after 46 years

The Austrian public broadcaster ZDF has announced the end of its long-running crime series 'Ein Fall für zwei' (A Case for Two). The final season, consisting of four episodes, will air next year, followed by a 90-minute feature film scheduled for production in 2027 to serve as a fitting conclusion. The show, which has been on air since 1981 with changing casts, has significantly shaped the Friday evening crime genre at ZDF over more than four decades. ZDF described ending the series as a difficult decision after careful consideration, acknowledging its impact on generations of viewers. While the Friday crime format will continue, it will focus on fewer formats moving forward.
