A town on Kvarner revealed its greatest secrets on the very first day of summer

The article discusses the town of Bakar on the Kvarner coast, highlighting its historical significance and cultural heritage. Located in the deep Bakar Bay, Bakar is one of the oldest coastal towns in Croatia, known for its narrow streets, medieval walls, and centuries-old stone houses. The first day of summer in Bakar was marked by the 'Walk Through History' event, which aimed to revive the town's past through various activities such as exploring hidden corners of the old town, learning about traditional crafts, customs, and stories of life in Bakar. A special emphasis was placed on the region's gastronomic heritage, featuring local specialties like fish dishes, palenta with cheese, and traditional baked goods. Cultural workshops, exhibitions, and performances were also part of the event. One of the highlights was the new Interpretation Center 'About Fish,' located in the historic 'Turkish House,' which tells the story of fishing—a vital activity that has shaped the lives of Bakar's residents for centuries.
