Why Are We Here?

In recent weeks, a growing number of people have begun to realize that they can find themselves more easily by losing their way. This realization has emerged amid widespread chaos, with parts of the Western world literally burning while others continue to wage wars despite efforts by many, especially politicians, to promote peace. Trust in information, once thought to come solely from one side, is eroding, and there appears to be an increasing prevalence of lies, manipulation, and irrational behavior. The situation has led to confusion over seemingly absurd phenomena such as snow-white camels, the gift-giving of hay barns to homeless shelters, and orange megaphones threatening to destroy millennia-old civilizations if anyone dares to hit them back. Even more bewildering is the scenario in which some individuals who withdraw from climate agreements now demand compensation for environmental damage from their neighbors. These developments suggest a shift in societal norms, where people are increasingly treated as consumers, content with all the options available to them. If dissatisfaction arises, it seems that future elections will likely include special discounts to appease voters. As this is being written, a television screen displays the title of a film titled Lord of Chaos. It raises the question: who does this all apply to, and who holds the reins? People on Earth have not evolved in a way that makes them susceptible to easy deception through falsehoods. Instead, we resonate best with honesty, love, and joy. It is not surprising, given that we are composed of elements from the Earth, breathing, drinking, and eating it. The Earth itself breathes, drinks, and nourishes us during its designated time. For these reasons alone, we should respect our only planet more deeply. There is still a little time before artificial intelligence begins to explain this world to us. Humans have always used tools to make work easier, particularly physical labor. However, the development of the mind and critical thinking has been largely neglected, perhaps with justification. More and more people, amidst all of this, are realizing that they can find themselves most easily by losing their way. The best place to do this is in nature, among trees, beside rivers, oceans, hills. They find solace in the presence of a beloved person or in reading a good book, which serves as its own form of resistance. At these moments, routine, dictated by hours and minutes, locations and tasks, fades away. Then, they resonate with truth, love, and joy, resonating with the Earth itself.
