Na Bledu je 29. decembra 2024 znotraj svojega stanovanja ubil 32-letni Mitja Kocjančič svojo 27-letno ženo, ki je prišla živet k njemu v Slovenijo. Uboj je bil izvršen v stanju bistveno zmanjšane prištevnosti, kar je sodišče ocenilo kot pomembno dejstvo pri določanju višine kazni. Sodba, ki je bila izrecena 17. junija 2026, je obsojila Kocjančiča na 12 let zapora. Sodba še ni pravnomočna, kar pomeni, da se lahko še spremlja zapis ali odločitev sodišča.

Omenjeni zdravnik je bil glede svojega mnenja ključna priča, vendar je sodišče odločilo, da ga ne zasliši, kar je opredelila kot kršitev pravice do poštenega sojenja.
Strokovnjak psihiatrije, ki ga je angažirala obramba, je ocenil, da je Kocjančič duševni bolnik s trajno blodnjavo motnjo. Obramba trdi, da je deloval v stanju neprištevnosti zaradi dolgotrajne in težke duševne bolezni blodnjave motnje in capgrasovega sindroma, saj je verjel, da je bila njegova žena zamenjana z dvojico. Katarina Bradaška, pooblaščenka žrtvine mame, je uveljavila odškodnino za nepremoženjsko škodo v višini 150.000 evrov. Njena prizadevanja so bile namenjena zase in za mladoletnega sorojenca žrtve. Obramba je poudarila, da je Kocjančič v svojem izpovedi v preiskavi in na prejšnjih obravnavah poudarjal, da je bil zaposlen kot medijski tehnik in motivacijski govorec, kar je vplivalo na njegovo psihološko stanje.
Sodni senat pod vodstvom sodnice Nine Prosen je ocenil, da se je Kocjančič zavedal svojega ravnanja in njegovih posledic.
