YCIS Celebrates Exceptional IB Results with Two Perfect Scorers and Offers from Leading Global Universities

Yew Chung International School of Hong Kong (YCIS Hong Kong) celebrated its outstanding International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) results for the Class of 2026, with two students achieving the highest possible score of 45 points. The school's 123 students who sat the IBDP exams saw 24 of them scoring 40 or higher, and 67 earning the IB Bilingual Diploma, highlighting the institution's commitment to a multicultural and bilingual curriculum. Graduates have already received admission offers from top universities worldwide, including Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, Tsinghua, and Peking University. Approximately half of the offers came from institutions ranked in the top 50 globally by QS, while over three-quarters were from the top 100. A total of 208 students from YCIS schools participated in the IBDP examinations this year. Three students earned the maximum score of 45—two from YCIS Hong Kong and one from YCIS Shanghai. Five other students scored 44 points, and more than 20 percent of the cohort achieved scores of 40 or above. These results underscore the consistent excellence of YCIS in fostering academic achievement alongside personal development. Among the standout performers from YCIS Hong Kong were two perfect scorers. One of them, Amos Cheng, joined the school's Infant and Toddler Learning Programme at just six months old. He described his achievement as the culmination of a lifelong journey at YCIS, crediting the supportive environment and the diverse opportunities available to him. Amos emphasized the role of his teachers, classmates, and family in helping him reach this milestone. He highlighted the value of holistic development, which included participation in musicals, service initiatives, and founding the Eco-Humanitarian Advocates. His experience at YCIS prepared him not only academically but also as a person committed to making a positive impact through leadership and service. Another perfect scorer, Hilary Leung, entered YCIS through the IB Pathway Programme. She received an offer from the Royal Veterinary College, a prestigious institution known for its rigorous training in veterinary science. Hilary credited her success to her determination and the support of her teachers and peers. Her interest in veterinary medicine was inspired by volunteer work at an emergency animal hospital in Australia and at Hong Kong’s Kadoorie Farm. This experience fueled her advocacy for improved animal welfare laws in Hong Kong. Reflecting on her time at YCIS, Hilary acknowledged the guidance of her English teacher during a pivotal moment when she changed her Extended Essay topic. She also noted how extracurricular activities such as debate and Model United Nations helped refine her public speaking skills, essential for university interviews. Additionally, involvement in the neurodiversity group allowed her to connect deeply with the broader YCIS community.
