Preliminary findings suggest that the 42-year-old driver of the Volkswagen fell asleep at the wheel and struck the rear of the moving school bus, which was being driven by a 49-year-old man. Both drivers were reportedly sober at the time of the accident.

The collision resulted in significant disruption to traffic flow on the S8 expressway heading towards Warsaw. Emergency services coordinated a detour through the village of Lipie, allowing traffic to continue using one lane. Officials estimated that the road closures would last until around 10 a.m., when normal conditions were expected to resume.
