Earlier in the week, gardaí responded to reports of dangerous driving on the M50 near Leopardstown, where a patrol car was rammed. Additionally, a stolen Audi was involved in a collision with a garda vehicle in The Ward, north Dublin, resulting in significant damage and prompting concerns about the safety of both officers and the public. Following the M9 crash, hundreds of people attended a prayer vigil in St Clare's Church in Graiguecullen, County Carlow, for the family injured in the collision. The vigil, which was also live-streamed, aimed to provide support and solidarity to the victims and their families. Bishop Denis Nulty addressed attendees, highlighting the importance of community unity and cautioning against the dangers of social media content that encourages risky behavior. Professor Mary Aiken, a professor of cyber-psychology, has called for stricter regulations on social media platforms to address the issue of dangerous driving content.
