Woman who orchestrated ex-husband's horrifying sulphuric acid death is jailed

A woman who played a central role in orchestrating a fatal acid attack on her ex-husband was sentenced to nine years in prison after being found guilty of manslaughter and attempted kidnap. Paris Wilson, 35, was arrested after police informed her of an “incident” involving her former partner, Danny Cahalane, who had been attacked with sulphuric acid at his home in Lipson Road, Plymouth, on February 21, 2025. Cahalane, a 38-year-old fitness instructor and drug dealer, survived the attack for ten weeks before dying from his injuries in May 2025. During the arrest, Wilson broke down emotionally, telling police that Cahalane was a “bad man” who had “brought it on himself.” She admitted knowledge of the planned attack and described herself as a “bad mum” for allowing her daughter to stay with Cahalane despite knowing he was in financial trouble. When a male officer referred to Cahalane as a “victim,” Wilson reacted strongly, insisting that he was not a victim but someone who had “caught up in a lot of bad stuff.” Wilson’s involvement in the attack stemmed from her relationship with Cahalane, whom she had previously shared a child with. According to court proceedings, she had fed information about his movements to a drugs kingpin known as “Frost,” who had loaned Cahalane £120,000 in a high-stakes gambling debt. In return for this information, Wilson received a small amount of money and a holiday in Turkey. She also played a role in an earlier failed attempt to kidnap Cahalane in January 2025, using her daughter as bait during child contact arrangements. At the sentencing hearing, Judge Heather Norton stated that Wilson was a “key participant” in the attack, motivated by a mix of greed and revenge. The judge noted that Wilson had been aware of the potential for an acid attack due to Cahalane’s inability to repay his debts. Despite expressing sympathy for Wilson’s circumstances, the judge emphasized that the consequences for those affected by her actions were far more severe than the emotional toll on her. Other individuals involved in the attack faced harsher sentences. Ramarnee Bakas, 24, was jailed for 10 years for manslaughter, while Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 23, and Israel Augustus, 27, received 31 and 30 years respectively for murder. Adedoja’s defense argued that he acted under the direction of Frost, a powerful drug dealer who orchestrated the attack. Cahalane’s mother, Vivien Cahalane, passed away just one day after her son’s death, reportedly missing chemotherapy appointments to be with him in the hospital. The court heard that Wilson had expressed remorse during the trial, though the judge stressed that her self-interest overshadowed the suffering caused to others. Following the sentencing, Wilson was taken into custody and prepared for transfer to prison. Officers informed her that she would soon be reunited with her daughter, and she acknowledged that her life had diverged significantly from Cahalane’s since their separation in 2022.
