Wicklow hotel cancels ‘secretive’ Peter Thiel group conference

A secretive international conference linked to Peter Thiel, a billionaire investor and former ally of Donald Trump, has been canceled after weeks of controversy surrounding its planned location at a luxury hotel in County Wicklow, Ireland. The event, known as "Dialog," was set to take place at the Powerscourt Hotel in August and had drawn significant public scrutiny due to its association with Thiel and his company Palantir, a defense contractor with strong ties to the Israeli military.

According to statements released by both the Powerscourt Estate and the Powerscourt Hotel Resort & Spa, the decision to cancel the event came after extensive discussions and concerns raised by various stakeholders. The Powerscourt Estate expressed relief and satisfaction with the outcome, stating that it had been deeply troubled by the potential implications of hosting such an event. In its official communication, the estate acknowledged the support of its employees, neighbors, supporters, and legal team throughout the process. The Powerscourt Hotel, which operates independently under the MHL Hotel Collection, confirmed that the event would no longer proceed at its premises without providing additional details regarding the reasons behind the cancellation.

The Dialog conference, which was intended to be an exclusive gathering of over 200 high-profile individuals from diverse fields such as politics, technology, defense, and finance, had sparked considerable debate.
