Water shortage: Smaller hydropower plants partially shut down

At the Rhine power plant Iffezheim, production was at around 83 percent of the reference level up to the end of June, but only 70 percent in June alone. On the Neckar River, power plants produced only 83 percent of their potential electricity output in the first six months of the year, with June reaching just 61 percent. EnBW and its subsidiaries generate electricity from hydro power at 130 sites, including both run-of-river and pumped storage plants.
