Hiking of the month of August Alpine dream tour: Over the Swiss Way to the Schesaplana

A Swiss mountaineer has completed a challenging two-day hiking tour known as the “Alpine Dream Trail” along the Swiss Path to the Schesaplana, marking a personal milestone after decades of anticipation. The route begins at the Schesaplanahütte, a mountain refuge located in the canton of Graubünden, and leads through dramatic alpine landscapes toward the summit of the Schesaplana, the highest peak in the Rätikon range. The journey covers approximately 1000 meters of elevation gain and includes steep slopes, exposed rock faces, and sections requiring careful navigation. The trek follows the Swiss Path, which is renowned for its technical difficulty and scenic beauty. Marcel Hähni, a seasoned outdoor journalist and guide, described the trail’s unique challenge during his recent hike. Despite years of experience in the mountains, he admitted being initially skeptical about the feasibility of navigating the seemingly impassable cliffs. Seewis, a picturesque village nestled in the Prättigau region, lies at around 950 meters above sea level and is celebrated for its sunny climate.
