Hydroelectric power plants on the Drava, Soča, and lower Sava rivers have produced significantly less electricity this July compared to last year and the five-year average, according to Holding Slovenske elektrarne (HSE). Production has dropped by 39% compared to July 2025 and by 52% compared to the five-year average. This decline is attributed to poor hydrological conditions, which have worsened throughout the year. The Agency for Environment and Space (Arso) reported that river flows across the country are currently low and continue to decrease slowly.
