Attention, drivers, as of Saturday, a new rule on the Styrian and coastal highways!

Starting from Saturday, August 1, 2026, new traffic rules will come into effect on Slovenia’s A1 motorway (from Šentilj to Koper) and the H4 expressway (between Razdrto and Vrtojba). The ban on overtaking heavy trucks (over 7.5 tonnes) will be extended by three hours. Previously, the restriction was in place between 6 AM and 6 PM; now it will apply from 5 AM until 10 PM. This change aims to improve road safety, increase traffic flow, and reduce congestion during peak times. According to Darsa, the measure has been coordinated with representatives of trucking associations, suggesting cooperation rather than resistance from the industry. However, despite these changes, Darsa’s traffic calendar still marks all August weekends in red, indicating continued heavy traffic towards the coast and back.

Bias read (Center): The article presents the new traffic regulation as a neutral update to existing rules, citing the stated goals of improving safety and reducing congestion. It includes quotes from Darsa, which frames the change as a collaborative effort with trucking associations. There is no evident ideological slm
