The VJT will prosecute those who claim to have suffered the consequences of the "sound cannon": "Did the students organize with the doctors to give false reports?"

In recent developments, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has publicly addressed claims surrounding the so-called "sound cannon" incident that allegedly occurred during protests on March 15, 2025. According to statements made by Vučić five days ago during an interview on TV Prva's program *Jutro*, there was no actual use of a sound cannon. He emphasized that the narrative around such an event had been fabricated and used as a tool to undermine his leadership. Vučić pointed out how media outlets had spread stories suggesting he had turned against his people, which he argued was a deliberate attempt to discredit him and create public unrest.

Vučić elaborated on the broader context of these allegations, explaining that external forces had sought to find someone who could unite opposition against him. He claimed that once a person was accused of turning their back on their nation, it became irrelevant whether they had achieved significant infrastructure projects or worked tirelessly to provide essential services. The president stated that such accusations would render a leader untrustworthy, regardless of their previous accomplishments.

The investigation into these claims has led to new information emerging from the Belgrade Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT). During its probe into the death of a female student at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, documents were discovered indicating that the false narrative about the sound cannon was planned and organized. These documents included records from a meeting held by the organization "Students in Blockade – Roof Working Group for Security" (KRBG) on January 22, 2025. At this meeting, discussions centered around the idea of using a sound cannon, with suggestions that such an action might provoke a massive response from Brussels and even reference practices observed in China where individuals would move aside upon hearing a sound cannon.

According to the VJT, participants in the meeting and other unnamed individuals are suspected of planning actions aimed at simulating the use of a sound cannon during the March 15, 2025, protest in Belgrade. This simulation was intended to incite panic among the public and lead to unrest, potentially resulting in violent changes to the country's constitutional order and threatening national security.

The VJT has announced plans to investigate four groups of individuals associated with the alleged false narrative. One group includes those who visited doctors claiming to have suffered effects from the sound cannon. Among them is former resistance representative Marko Samardžić, who experienced severe cardiac issues during the protest. He described feeling an unusual force and a loud noise before being hospitalized for 21 days. Despite his recovery, Samardžić expressed confusion over the VJT's claim that everything was merely a simulation.

Opposition politician Miroslav Aleksić criticized the government's approach, accusing it of manipulating public institutions such as the state broadcaster RTS and the prosecutor's office. He suggested that all parties involved in what he called a "monstrous film" should be held accountable. Meanwhile, Vučić reiterated his belief that the government could fabricate any story it wished, but he also expressed confidence that the legal process would clarify matters.

Legal experts, including Professor Vanja Bajović from the Law Faculty, raised questions regarding the evidentiary value of the documents found in the rectorate. She highlighted the lack of clear evidence regarding how the simulation was executed, questioning whether students had used devices, moved trees, or coordinated with medical professionals to produce fake reports.
