The Vipava fast road will be partially closed for 130 days due to ongoing renovation work, with complete closure starting this weekend. During the full closure, the entire 12-kilometer carriageway will be renovated. The project manager from Projekt d.d., Simon Premrl, explained that the full road surface repair will take place during the closure. DARS director Aleš Cantarutti mentioned that the process will begin this Saturday with the complete closure of Rebernic. Traffic will be redirected, with the right lane open for all traffic towards Italy and the left lane reserved for emergency vehicles. The opposite lanes toward Ljubljana will be closed, allowing local passenger and freight traffic to use the regional road. Towing vehicles will be allowed on the old route but not through transit. Italian authorities will assist in redirecting transit freight traffic. Last year’s traffic restrictions caused significant delays and criticism from transport companies, with some drivers losing several hours. This year, adjustments were made based on last year’s experiences, and officials claim fewer issues are expected. Work is scheduled to conclude by mid-November.
