CroatiaA new panoramic elevator called 'Fuyao' has been launched in Yunnan Province, China, significantly reducing travel time for children from villages to school. Previously, students from the village of Nizhuhe had to climb steep mountain paths for up to three hours each way, totaling six hours per day. The new system combines multiple transportation methods, elevators and cable cars, to cut the entire journey down to just 30 minutes. The elevator reaches the top in about 50 seconds, while the total trip includes transportation from the village to the base of the elevator, through two lifts, and finally via a cable car to the school. Local residents and students have priority access, with dedicated lanes for school transportation. The project faced challenges including limited space, high humidity, and frequent fog, but safety measures such as redundant power systems and independent safety checks were implemented. The elevator costs approximately 68 million yuan (around 8.5 million euros).
