A new chapter in the lives of Slovenian musicians Jasmina Šmarčan and Samo Kališnik has begun with the announcement of their upcoming parenthood. The couple, known for their long-standing partnership both personally and professionally, shared the exciting news through social media, revealing they are expecting their first child. Samo Kališnik posted on his Facebook page, expressing his anticipation for the arrival of their son, whom he humorously refers to as “a new KvatroFehtar.” He joked that he already plays music for Jasmina’s stomach, hoping the baby will be surrounded by melodies from birth. His message included a playful prediction that the child would start playing guitar and singing from the moment of its arrival, marking the beginning of a musical journey for the family. The couple, who have been together for several years, have built their careers within the Slovenian music scene. Both hail from highly musical families. Samo is a member of the band Kvatropirci and Fehtarji, while Jasmina is part of the group Chicas. Their shared passion for music has shaped their relationship, making it clear that their newborn will grow up immersed in sound. According to Samo's comments, the child will likely develop an early connection to instruments and songs, continuing the tradition of artistic expression that defines their household. Jasmina and Samo’s love story has been chronicled in local media over the years. They were initially connected through their respective bands, Samo was a member of Ognjeni muzikanti, and Jasmina was part of Mjav. Their paths crossed during a concert featuring Kvatropirci and Mjav, where the spark of romance ignited. In 2020, their engagement was announced, following reports of their growing bond. Their wedding took place in May 2023 in Savinjska Dolina, becoming one of the more notable musical weddings of the year. The ceremony featured performances by renowned artists such as Jan Plestenjak, further cementing the couple’s place in the Slovenian music community. After marriage, Jasmina and Samo continued to collaborate on creative projects. They frequently worked together on songwriting and production, contributing to the success of groups like Chicas. In 2024, they co-wrote and performed on a new track titled O, ne, ne, mali! with Maša Frece. Samo handled the melody and arrangement, while Jasmina contributed the lyrics. Additionally, Samo played a key role in the creation of the song Ti, kakor vino, which was released by Kvatropirci. These collaborations highlight the deep synergy between them, both as individuals and as a couple. Now, after years of shared journeys and three years of marriage, the couple looks forward to welcoming their first child. Samo has already given the baby a nickname, “KvatroFehtar”, and expressed his hope that the child will be introduced to music even before birth. He mentioned that he already plays for Jasmina’s belly, imagining the baby listening to melodies from the very start of life.
