Verify before you buy: Dubai Police warn against fake Global Village VIP packs

Dubai Police have issued a warning to the public about fake websites and social media accounts promoting fraudulent Global Village VIP packages ahead of the attraction’s 31st season. The alert follows the recent launch of VIP packs for the upcoming season, which are being sold exclusively through the Coca-Cola Arena website. Scammers are cloning official sites and social media profiles to deceive users into making payments or sharing personal data. Global Village is scheduled to reopen on October 14, welcoming visitors for its 31st season. The event will run until May 2027, with VIP packages available in stages starting from September 21. Advanced sales for these packages will take place from September 21 to 25, followed by general sales beginning on September 26. Prices for the VIP packs vary depending on the tier selected. The Diamond VIP Pack costs Dh7,900, with an additional priority booking fee of Dh1,000. The Platinum pack is priced at Dh3,490 with a Dh500 fee, while the Gold and Silver packs are available for Dh2,490 and Dh1,890 respectively, along with fees of Dh300 and Dh200. Eligibility requires individuals aged 18 or older with a valid Emirates ID. Dubai Police emphasized that such scams often resurface annually during the announcement of Global Village activities. Fraudsters create or clone official platforms to mimic legitimate ones, leading users to believe they are interacting with authorized services. This deception results in victims completing fraudulent transactions or providing sensitive information. Authorities urged the public to remain cautious of offers that seem too good to be true, particularly those offering unusually low prices. All tickets and packages should be purchased through verified and official channels. Users are advised to avoid clicking on links or engaging with accounts from unverified sources. To help combat such fraud, Dubai Police encouraged the public to report any suspicious accounts or links through the eCrime platform or by calling 901. These actions can assist in preventing further incidents and protecting others from potential scams.
