Lovrenc is preparing the 7th traditional Golazhiad.

The seventh traditional golažijada is being prepared in Lovrenc, set to take place on Sunday, August 29, 2026, at the Sports Park in Lovrenc on Dravska Polja. Organized by the Sports Club Lovrenc, the event will bring together food lovers, social enthusiasts, and competitive spirit seekers who can expect a unique blend of culinary artistry and community engagement. The event, which has been held annually since its inception, promises to feature two distinct categories of competition. The first category, “Best Golaž,” will assess the taste and quality of the dishes prepared by each team. The second, known as “Naj Štand,” will evaluate the overall atmosphere, judging the organization of workstations, appearance of the teams, ambiance, and their interaction with visitors. Teams are encouraged to prepare additional delicacies such as grilled items and cutlets to enhance their presentation. Each team will receive meat, cabbage, bread, and beverages at 14:00, after which they will begin preparing their dishes under a tent. By 18:00, a professional commission will collect samples from each team for evaluation. One hour later, results will be announced, followed by the distribution of prizes. Winners in both categories will be awarded trophies and practical gifts, while the winner of the “Best Golaž” category will also receive a commemorative trophy. The event is open not only to competitors but also to all visitors who wish to experience the culinary delights and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Refreshments, including cold drinks, will be available throughout the day, ensuring comfort for all attendees.
