In Charlemagne's court, twelve films compete for the crystal globe.

The 60th International Film Festival in Kranjska Gora has opened, featuring 12 competing films for the Crystal Globe award, including first-time entries from Switzerland, Myanmar, and Colombia. All films in the competitive program have their world premiere at the festival. Among the contenders are 'A Happy Family' by Swiss director Jan-Eric Mack, 'Fruit Gathering' by Burmese director Aung Phyoe, and 'Cinco años, cuatro meses' by Colombian directors Esteban Hoyos Garcia and Juan Miguel Gelacio. The festival celebrates its 60th edition and 80th anniversary since its founding in 1946. Notable awards include the Crystal Globe recipients, which this year honor American actor Dustin Hoffman, French actress Juliette Binoche, and three-time Oscar-winning cinematographer Robert Richardson. The festival also recognizes emerging talent, with Slovenian-American director David Champaigne selected for the Future Frames: Generation Next program through the Slovenian Film Center.
