In Vatikanu so začeli veliko obsežen projekt restavriranja Rafaelove mojstrovine, kar predstavlja pomembno zgodovinsko dogodilo.

Slovenske noviceIndependentCenterFactual 90Objective 8518 hr. ago This important work by an Italian painter is being restored in VeniceThe article discusses the restoration of the Triptych of San Francesco della Vigna (also known as the Pesaro Triptych), created by the Venetian Renaissance painter Giovanni Bellini in 1488 as a memorial to Franceschino Tron. The work was part of a broader project involving the renovation of the chapel where Tron was buried. The triptych features a central depiction of Mary with Jesus in her arms, flanked by saints representing Tron’s three sons. It has been preserved alongside its originally richly carved and gilded Gothic frame. After a previous restoration in 1990, a new research project conducted between 2023 and 2024 uncovered numerous old overpaintings and visible woodworm damage. Conservation efforts aim to stabilize color layers, reduce surface varnish, and make the painted surface more legible.

The project, which began in April 2026, involves using laser technology to clean the 65-meter-long and four-meter-wide space originally painted between 1517 and 1519 by Raphael’s workshop. The frescoes, depicting scenes from the Bible, were previously partially restored around 50 years ago but remain heavily covered with layers of dirt, animal glue, wax, and fixatives that have yellowed over time. Experts note that traditional chemical methods could damage the fragile original layers, making laser cleaning the only viable option. The project, funded by international donors with €4.7 million allocated, involves over 20 conservators working on approximately 1,300 square meters of surface area.
