Uttarakhand police have registered a first information report (FIR) against Pramod Nautiyal, a staffer in the office of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee chairperson, over allegations of stealing donations at the Badrinath shrine. Nautiyal, who was already suspended by the temple authorities, is accused of theft by a clerk or servant and aggravated criminal breach of trust under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The temple committee alleges he took donation money for personal gain, and a four-member inquiry panel found that temple funds were illegally removed from the donation counting center on July 2. The suspended employee will continue working at the temple committee’s office in Joshimath but cannot leave without authority. Trust chairman Hemant Dwivedi stated the action was taken to prevent tampering during the investigation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has formed a high-level committee to investigate the allegations within 15 days. This follows similar allegations of donation embezzlement at the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
