The national competition Ecotrophelia Slovenia 2026, aimed at promoting innovation and sustainable development in the food industry, took place on June 23, 2026, organized by the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. Students from the University of Ljubljana’s Faculty of Health Sciences (UP FVZ), studying Nutrition Counseling – Dietetics, participated under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr. Boris Kovač. The students Ula Mencin and Ana Jančar won third place with their product A’LA’VEG, an innovative seasoning mix that reduces sodium content by replacing 30% of salt with other salts and dried herbs. This year’s event once again demonstrated that young people with knowledge, creativity, and courage for innovation are shaping the future of agriculture. The Ecotrophelia competition is part of a European initiative encouraging students to develop high-value, sustainable, innovative, and marketable food products. Participants must develop their product to a stage suitable for sale and prepare a comprehensive business plan for marketing.
