The Universidad del Norte (Uninorte) and Promigas have obtained a patent for a technology designed to repair high-pressure pipelines, granted by Colombia’s Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (SIC). The innovation aims to enhance safety and reliability in critical infrastructure used in energy, industry, and fluid transportation sectors. The system was developed through a collaborative effort between academic researchers and Promigas, and it allows repaired sections of pipelines to withstand up to 740% more pressure than their original design specifications. The technology uses corrosion-resistant materials compatible with various fluids and has a projected lifespan of at least 30 years in repaired areas.
