E-scooter accidents - Victims should receive easier compensation

The number of accidents involving electric scooters has increased significantly in recent years. Previously, victims often had to bear the costs of damages alone. To address this issue, the German parliament has passed a legal amendment that makes it easier for accident victims to claim compensation. The new rules apply the same liability standards to e-scooter incidents as those for other motor vehicles. This means that operators of e-scooter fleets will now be held responsible for damages if the actual perpetrator cannot be identified. Additionally, victims of accidents involving parked e-scooters no longer need to prove that a rider improperly parked the vehicle. The law applies only to self-balancing devices like e-scooters and Segways, excluding items such as lawn mowers and mobility aids for people with disabilities.

Bias read (Center): The article presents a balanced overview of a legislative change regarding liability laws for e-scooter accidents. It includes quotes from the Justice Minister and provides context about the increase in accidents and the scope of the new regulations. There is no evident bias in the framing or word选择
