ARIn October 2023, Marcelo Alejandro Bertorello, Secretary General of the Aerospace Workers' Union, discovered a printed copy of an email from 2020 inside the union office at FAdeA, the state aircraft factory. This email revealed a corruption scheme involving foreign suppliers, Western Union transfers, and employees in the Purchasing department. The discovery triggered internal audits and led to the seizure of computer equipment, which helped reconstruct communications between suppliers and procurement staff. Two years later, Federal Court No. 2 in Cordoba indicted three FAdeA employees, Gustavo Luis Alonso Ferrero, Maria Carolina Villarruel, and Cesar Augusto Frances, for passive bribery. Alonso Ferrero and Villarruel were also charged with violating confidentiality. The case originated from a complaint by the National Justice Ministry’s Anti-Corruption Office and was driven forward by this accidental discovery.
