Darko Struden, professor, translator and long-time theatre producer, has died

Darko Čuden, profesor nemškega jezika, prevajalec, režiser in dolgoletni član Gledališča 2B v Bohinjski Bistrici, je umrl v starosti 65 let. Čuden je bil zaposlen na Filozofski fakulteti Univerze v Ljubljani, kjer je deloval kot profesor modernega nemškega jezika. Njegova raziskovalna področja so vključevala oblikoslovje, besedoslovje, skladnjo, pomenoslovje in kontrastivno jezikoslovje. Pomembno delo je prevajanje, predvsem iz danščine, norveščine in švedščine, pa tudi iz nemščine in angleščine. Med njegovimi prevodi je bil romanski Smrt se vozi v audiju danskega pisatelja Kristiana Banga Fossa. Čuden je več kot dve desetletji režiral v Gledališču 2B, kjer je pogosto uporabljal besedila, ki so bila v Sloveniji izvedena prvič, in je tudi sam prevajal številne igre. Za svoje delo je leta 1997 prejel Linhartovo listino, leta 2016 pa je bil v ožjem izboru za Sovretovo nagrado za prevode leposlovnih del.
