Ukraine launches wave of overnight drone attacks on Russia

Ukraine launched a series of overnight drone attacks targeting Russian territory, resulting in civilian casualties and damage to infrastructure, according to reports from Russian regional officials. On Saturday morning, local authorities in Kyiv noted a fire in a warehouse in the Darnytskyi district after an alert was issued for a ballistic missile. Preliminary information indicated one fatality and multiple injuries. In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian drone strike killed a man and wounded four others, according to regional military administration chief Ivan Fedorov. As hostilities continue, international efforts to support Ukraine have intensified. Allies of Ukraine are set to convene on Monday for a meeting aimed at reinforcing solidarity with Kyiv. The gathering, coinciding with Ukraine’s independence day, will feature discussions led by French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. Approximately 10 leaders, including European Council chief António Costa, will attend the meeting in Kyiv. This summit underscores the ongoing commitment of global partners to assist Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression.
