In the biogas sector, 3.4 million tons of biomass were processed, with wastewater sludge accounting for nearly 45% of this total. Industrial by-products and waste contributed over 1 million tons, including notable contributions from brewing and dairy industries. Animal-based by-products, such as manure, accounted for 19% of the total biomass used. The AKI analysis suggests the bioenergy sector could gain new momentum, supported by investments starting in 2026 under the Jedlik Ányos Energy Program and the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan, which aim to promote renewable energy and circular economy practices.
