UEC European Road Cycling Championships

The European Cycling Championships will take place on Slovenian roads from October 2 to 7, 2026, bringing together approximately 800 cyclists from over 50 countries. Tina Kociper, a member of the organizing committee and leader of the volunteer team, emphasized the importance of volunteers during the opening of applications. “Volunteers are the heart of every major sporting event, as their energy, dedication, and hospitality significantly contribute to the experience of everyone involved,” she said. “Hosting the European Championships on home roads is an extraordinary opportunity to create an event we can all be proud of for years to come. Therefore, we invite anyone who wishes to learn about the inner workings of top-level sport and gain new experiences to join us.” Volunteers will assist in various areas, including accreditation, information points, logistics, venue setup, media support, visitor guidance, and work along the race routes and road closures. Most tasks will take place in Ljubljana and Šenčur, while some preparatory activities will begin days before the event. The duration of participation can range from two days to the entire championship period, allowing flexibility for volunteers based on availability and interest. Before the event begins, volunteers will undergo an online training session organized by the organizers. During their service, they will receive official equipment, food, and drinks, and upon request, they may also obtain a certificate confirming their voluntary work or practical involvement. This structured approach ensures that volunteers are well-prepared and supported throughout their contribution to the event.
